WAYNE, PA, July 18, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- James E. Rush, Retired Executive Director of PALINET, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in his career.
Dr. Rush celebrates a highly successful career that spanned more than four decades. Now retired, he most recently served as the executive director of PALINET for 11 years. PALINET is now part of LYRASIS, a nonprofit organization that helps libraries assimilate technology and coordinate library services. Dr. Rush's responsibilities included overseeing all day-to-day operations of the organization, including technical and financial services. He specialized in helping libraries operate more effectively by providing professional expertise in content creation, acquisition and management, as well as expanded access to valuable technical resources. He also excelled in offering creative and cost-effective solutions through collaboration, consulting, digital and preservation services, professional development and group purchases. Dr. Rush considers his success to be a direct result of his hard work and dedication.
In 1962, Dr. Rush earned a Ph.D. in chemistry from the University of Missouri. He previously earned a Bachelor of Science in chemistry and mathematics from the University of Central Missouri and maintained membership to the American Chemical Society from 1959 to 1996. He is a member and former president of the American Society for Information Science and Technology. Additionally, he served in the U.S. Army National Guard and holds the status of 5-A. Dr. Rush has taught at Drexel University, The Ohio State University and The University of South Florida. He has supervised 20 dissertations and written more than 100 publications. He also owned a technology consulting firm, James E. Rush Associates, for eight years. Now enjoying his retirement after experiencing a fulfilling career, he spends his time as an amateur photographer and films nature and wildlife.
