Alan C. Reid Recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for Excellence in Military Information Technology Support
Alan Reid Celebrates Three Decades of Success Providing Vital Support Services
VISTA, CA, November 28, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Alan C. Reid, Retired E-9 Master Gunnery Sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps and Senior Information Systems Analyst for A2Z, Inc., Logistics Services, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in military information technology support services. He was also selected for inclusion in Cambridge Publishing's "Top 101 Industry Experts" book and honored as a Professional of the Year for 2010-2011.
For the last two years, Mr. Reid has served A2Z, Inc., Logistics Services as a senior information systems analyst, a position in which he employs his expertise in IT management to provide Naval Logistics Communication Systems Support for all vessels. In addition, he oversees training, backup services, troubleshooting and long-distance support for the Virginia-based IT and logistics services company. Calling on his 31 years of industry experience, he also teaches system administration classes to sailors.
While in the U.S Marine Corps, Mr. Reid has carried out 14 hardware and software installations and upgrades, valued at more than $6 million, for 42 aviation departments. He recently retired after 30 years of service, achieving the rank of E-9 master gunnery sergeant. Mr. Reid served in the military from 1980 to 2010. Prior to that, from 1976 to 1980, he worked for Reid Electric.
Attributing his success to his hard work and the long hours he commits to his profession, Mr. Reid became involved in his occupation after receiving field training from the U.S. Marine Corps. The highlight of his career was his role in the planning, coordination, and successful deployment of the 3rd Marine Air Wing information systems and support to Iraq in execution of the global war on terrorism. In the scope of three months, he set up three disparate locations to support 27 aviation units and two support ships comprising 216 aircraft and more than 5,000 personnel. Among his many other accomplishments, Mr. Reid counts serving as one of the leads involved in a more than $12 million contract for the Navy/Marine Corps Intranet (NMCI).
Mr. Reid earned an MBA from University of Phoenix in 2007 and a bachelor's degree in information technology management from National University in 2004. He received a Security+ certification from CompTIA in 2010 and also holds a Security Leadership Course and Global Information Assurance Certification. He is an active member of his community and has been recognized with numerous awards, medals and commendations from the military. These include a Meritorious Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and Presidential Unit Citation.
In addition, Mr. Reid has been honored with two National Defense Service Medals and Navy Meritorious Unit Commendations, and is a four-time recipient of the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal. Looking to the future, Mr. Reid hopes to add to his accomplishments and advance within his organization and in his position.
